Well done to the Albany Primary School Team that won the Championship trophy. Read our students fantastic recount of the day.
SOCCER RECOUNT by Ewan B, Sarel H and Liam B Our spirit levels were rising as every tyre spin took us closer to the Glenfield Soccer Tournament. As we jumped out of the car we stormed over to the pitch where we will either hold the cup or end with a devastating disappointment. Our first opponents were a school called Manuka Primary, we came out with a winning score of 3-1. A good solid start to the day. We went well with our other games as our winning streak continued. Sooner than you would expect we had finished all of our pool matches with winning scores as we proceeded to the semi finals. The game began. We held a lot of possession in the first half, finishing up with a 2-1 victory. So we continue to the finals against Hauraki Primary School, the deciding match. Lining up we shook hands and the battle began. Ho Jae scored the winning goal from a cross sent from the halfway line by Ewan. Through teamwork, co-operation and a sense of pride we succeeded. The final whistle blew, the score was 1-0. We all jumped with joy, sprinting to claim our prizes.
