Sheena Cameron on Reading Comprehension Strategies and your Child

· They don’t teach reading like they used to! How has the teaching of reading changed since you were at school?

· Are you worried your child won’t achieve National Standards in reading?

· Your child not moving up the levels as fast as you would like them to, would you like to know why?

· Do you want to know about how to support your child’s reading at home?

· When teachers talk about reading comprehension, what does this mean?

To answer these questions and more please come along on Wednesday evening to hear our fantastic literary presenter, Sheena Cameron.

Calling to all our budding photographers

Come and enter Albany Primary’s Photo Competition!

Take photos of the traffic on your way to school on 7th September and you can be in to win great prizes!

What you need to do to enter this competition :

You must walk, bike, scooter or catch the bus to school on the 7th of September.

Take a photo of traffic during your journey to school (we want to see your photos, ie not a photo taken by mum and dad). Some ideas could be: an angle of a car, bike, someone not being road safe, etc.

Either email ( tmoody@albany.school.nz ) or print and bring your photo to Miss Moody (Area 9) by Friday the 10^th of September to be entered into the photo competition – one entry per person please.

Let us know what location the photo was taken of.
